The opening of laws mainly related to trade and Non-Tariff Processing Training Courses

In accordance with the guidance of the Union Minister for the Ministry of Commerce, the Trade Education Division under the Department of Trade has been implementing the Human Resource Development Plan.

Daw Yuzana Myint Aung , Assistant Director of the Trade Policy Division under the Department of Trade, has taught the law mainly related to trade. The training was conducted from October 17 to 18 (Tuesday and Wednesday), and it was designed for young officers and other ranks to widen their knowledge about the laws. This course was attended by 26 participants.

Daw Win Min Phyo, Director of the Regional Economic Cooperation Division, has taught the Non-Tariff Processing course. The training was conducted on October 19, and it was designed for her participants to widen their knowledge about the Non-Tariff Measures. This course was attended by 19 participants.

      အဆိုပါအစည်းအဝေးအား မြန်မာနိုင်ငံနှင့် တရုတ်နိုင်ငံတို့အကြား နှစ်နိုင်ငံ နယ်စပ်ကုန် သွယ်ရေးပိုမိုမြှင့်တင်ဆောင်ရွက်ရန်ကိစ္စရပ်များ၊ နိုဝင်ဘာ ၂၀ ရက်မှ ၂၄ ရက်နေ့အထိ တရုတ်နိုင်ငံ၊ ရွှေလီမြို့၌ ကျင်းပပြုလုပ်မည့် မြန်မာ-တရုတ်နှစ်နိုင်ငံအကြား (၂၀) ကြိမ်မြောက် နယ်စပ်ကုန်သွယ် ရေးကုန်စည်ပြပွဲဆိုင်ရာကိစ္စရပ်များနှင့် (၁၆) ကြိမ်မြောက်မြန်မာ-တရုတ်နယ်စပ်ကုန်သွယ်မှုပူးပေါင်း ညှိနှိုင်းရေးကော်မတီအစည်းအဝေးဆိုင်ရာကိစ္စရပ်များဆွေးနွေးရန်  ရည်ရွယ်၍ ကျင်းပခြင်းဖြစ်ပါ သည်။             

       အစည်းအဝေးသို့ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံဘက်မှ ကုန်သွယ်ရေးဦးစီးဌာန၊ ညွှန်ကြားရေးမှူးချုပ် ဦးမြင့်သူရ၊ ဒုတိယညွှန်ကြားရေးမှူးချုပ် ဦးသိန်းထွန်းဦး၊ မြန်မာကုန်သွယ်မှုမြှင့်တင်ရေးအဖွဲ့မှ သက်ဆိုင်ရာညွှန်ကြားရေးမှူး၊ ကုန်သွယ်ရေးဦးစီးဌာနမှ သက်ဆိုင်ရာညွှန်ကြားရေးမှူးများ၊ ဘာသာ ရပ်တာဝန်ခံများ တက်ရောက်ပြီး  တရုတ်နိုင်ငံဘက်မှ ယူနန်ပြည်နယ်၊ တဲဟုန်ပြည်နယ်ခွဲ၊ ပြည်သူ့ အစိုးရအုပ်ချုပ်ရေးမှူး Mr. Wei Gang ဦးဆောင်၍ ကိုယ်စားလှယ် (၈) ဦးတို့ တက်ရောက်ခဲ့ကြပါ သည်။

      The Opening of ASEAN Trade in Service

In accordance with the guidance of the Union Minister for the Ministry of Commerce, the Trade Education Division under the Department of Trade has been implementing the Human Resource Development Plan.

The training on was conducted from October 12 to 13 (Thursday and Friday), and it was designed for young officers and other ranks to widen their knowledge about ASEAN trade.

THE 31st MEETING OF THE ASEAN EXPERTS GROUP ON COMPETITION (31st AEGC MEETING) AND RELATED MEETINGS

The 31st Meeting of the ASEAN Experts Group on Competition (AEGC) and related meetings were held in Cebu, Philippines with in-person and virtual systems on 9-13 October 2023. It was opened by Ms. LolibethRamit-Medrano, Chair of the AEGC and Commissioner of the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC), who delivered her opening remarks.

The meeting was held for the purpose of discussing among ASEAN member states regarding the current practices, completion conditions,the plans to be carried out and ways to solve the challenges and the difficulties faced with respect to competition policy and law.

The 31st Meeting of the ASEAN Experts Group on Competition (AEGC) and related meetings were held as per the following schedule –

(1) The 31st Meeting of the ASEAN Experts Group on Competition (9-11 October, 2023)

(2) 10th Informal Joint Consultation between the AEGC and Dilague Partners (12 October, 2023)

(3) 19th AANZFTA Competition Committee Meeting (12 October, 2023)

(4) 10th Sub-project Steering Committee Meeting (12 October, 2023)

(5) 5th Negotiation Round of the ASEAN Framework (13 October, 2023)

Representatives of ASEAN Experts Group on Competition of AMS, the ASEAN Secretariat, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, American, UK, Canada, GIZ and OECD attended the meetings.

The Fourth Meeting of the Sub-working Group on Rules of Origin for the ASEAN-CANADA Free Trade Agreement

  The Meeting is co-chaired by Mr. Aziz Sharkawi, Senior Principal Assistant Director, Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Malaysia and Ms. Shezara Ali, Global Affairs Canada, Canada. Responsible officials from ASEAN Member Countries and representatives from ASEAN Secretariat Office are attending the meeting. Two officials from each of the Department of Trade and Myanmar Customs Department are joining the meeting virtually.     The meeting discussed the consolidated text of Rules of Origin such as ASEAN Proposal on Regional Value Contact (RVC) and Canada’s proposal on Focused Value Method pursuant to the non-paper by Canada, Accumulation, Materials Used in Production, Fungible Goods or Materials, Minimal Operations and revisit Wholly Obtained and Originating Goods Articles.

     The meeting is also discussing Origin Procedures (OP) such as Certification of Origin, Review Canada’s new proposal on Validity of the certification of origin/proof of origin and Suppliers, Penalties Article and Waiver of the Certification of Origin/Proof of Origin.

The Fifth Meeting of the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement-Working Group on Trade in Services (ACAFTA-WGTIS)

      The Fifth Meeting of the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement-Working Group on Trade in Services (ACAFTA-WGTIS)is holding in Bali, Indonesia in hybrid format on 25-29 September 2023. The meeting was attended by representatives from all ASEAN Member States,the ASEAN Secretariat Office and Canada. Two officials from Department of Trade, Ministry of Commerce, Myanmar and officials from Philippines have also joined the meeting virtually.

        The meeting has been discussing Member States’position on Temporary Movement of Natural Persons(TMNP), text of Development and Administration of Measures/ Domestic Regulation Annex, text of Professional Services Annex and its work plan. All Member States did the presentation on their respective domestic regulations related to the entry of the business persons into the Member State.
