   The Representative Training on the registration of Industrial Design(1/2023) was held in virtual format at the meeting room of the office No.52 of the Ministry of Commerce, Nay Pyi Taw in the morning of October 23, 2023 and the Director General of the Intellectual Property Department delivered an opening speech.

   This training aimed to give awareness on the Industrial Design Law and the stipulations and limitations in accepting the applications of the Industrial Design Registration to the holders of the WIPO File user account, applicants and representatives.  

   This representative training was firstly opened in 2023. In the training, the directors and lecturers of the respective subjects provided the lessons such as the General Knowledge on Intellectual Property and International Treaties, Explanation on the Industrial Design Law and the General Knowledge of ID, the Excluded Matter from the Protection of Industrial Design, the Forms and Fees related to Industrial Design Registration, Application for Registration of Industrial Design, the International Classification of Industrial Design, the Technical Knowledge of the Industrial Design Registraion via Online Filing System, the Role and Importance of the Representative and Practices in Other Countries and the Facts that should be known by the Representatives on the Registration.

   The training will be held 5-day from October 23rd to 27th, 2023 and a total number of one hundred and five trainees and thirteen observers participated in the training.

Awareness workshop on Industrial Design was held in virtual format at the meeting room of the office (52) of the Ministry of Commerce, Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on October 21, 2023 and the Director General of the Intellectual Property Department delivered an opening speech.

The awareness workshop was attended by the total number of seventy-five participants, the representatives from the respective ministries and the organizations including the responsible persons from the Intellectual Property Department.

In the Opening Speech, the Director General of the Intellectual Property Department said that the Industrial Design Law was promulgated on January 30, 2019 and this Law will be entered into force on October 31, 2023. Thus, the Intellectual Property Department has planned to hold the awareness workshops in order to effectively implement the Intellectual Property Laws. In order to get knowledge on Industrial Design by the entrepreneurs, the awareness workshops on Industrial Design were held for Yangon Region in July, for Mandalay Division in August and for Ayeyarwaddy Division and Shan State in September in virtual format. And she said that this awareness workshop is held for the representatives in the respective ministries and the organizations. Moreover, the entrepreneurs can prevent the third party from copying, counterfeit selling and misrepresentations of the products that are created or manufactured and distributed by entrepreneurs by having knowledge on Industrial Design Law.

And then, the Director of the Industrial Design Division of the department explained the Industrial Design Law and shared knowledge on the Industrial Design. Thereupon, the director responded to the questions  raised by the participants. The Director General delivered the closing speech and the workshop was concluded.
