The 3rd ACAFTA SWGROO meeting was held virtually on 13-14, June 2023. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Abdul Aziz MohamadSharkawi, Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia, for ASEAN, and Ms. Shezara Ali, Global Affairs Canada for Canada. Representatives from all ASEAN Member States, Canada, and the ASEAN Secretariat Office attended the meeting. One representative from Department of Trade, Ministry of Commerce and two representatives from Myanmar Customs Department, Ministry of Planning and Finance of Myanmar also joined the meeting virtually.
The meeting discussed the draft text on Rules of Origin, Origin Procedure’s Chapter, Self-Certification, Product Specific Rules (PSRs) and Contact Points. The meeting also discussed on the matters for Capacity Building and work programme. The meeting welcomed Canada’s additional proposal based on the outcomes of this meeting.
