Let’s celebrate the 12th Myanmar-China Border Trade Fair

  According to the agreement of Myanmar-China Border Management and Coordination, Myanmar – China Border Trade Fair has been held annually on alternate base in Myanmar (Muse) and China (Rhuli) since the year 2001.The first Myanmar-China Border Trade Fair was held in Ruili, southwest China’s Yunnan Province.

This year’s Myanmar-China Border Trade Fair will be held in Myanmar, location on Muse 105th Mile Border Trade Zone in Northern Shan State of the country from December, 9 to December11.

  With a total of 230 booths from both sides, other neighboring countries such as India, Thailand, Laos, and Bangladesh will also take place the fair by 2 booths each. Myanmar will exhibit its agricultural produces and marine products, gems and jade, traditional handicrafts, traditional medicine and furniture, and household goods manufactured by domestic industry zones.

The previous fairs were participated by companies, enterprises, and visitors from both countries as well as those from other neighboring countries. In line with the national level trade fair, participation of Ministries concerned and various Chamber of Commerce and Industry Associations actively support to celebrate greatly.

At the opening day of the fair, senior officials from both sides will hold a meeting in which the trade matters will be discussed by searching the possible ways and approaches to solve the obstacles and barriers. Moreover, the two countries' joint committee for border trade (JBTCCC) will meet at the fair aiming for promoting and facilitating the bilateral trade between the two countries. Then, business matching and signing of sale contract ceremony will be held as usual.

It is noted that some companies and enterprises from Linchang (China) and from Mae Hong Son (Thailand) will come and learn this year’s fair.

Since Muse 105th Mile Trade zone is important for Myanmar - China Border Trade as well as is a Strategic Trade Zone between South Asia region and South

East Asia region, it helps to improve the existing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

According to Myanmar’s official figures, Myanmar – China bilateral trade amounted to (986.59) million U.S. dollars in FY 2008 - 2009, (1076.811) million U.S. dollars in FY 2009 - 2010, (1800.282) million U.S. dollars in FY 2010-2011, (2985.424) million U.S. dollars in FY 2011-2012 , respectively. We can see that the bilateral border trade has been increasing year after year.

It is obviously seen that the good opportunities will get more and more because of facilitating the flow of goods, promoting the trade volume, achieving the market access through holding bilateral border trade fairs.
